Getting Ready to Buy a Home Starts Before the First Showing

Many people assume the homebuying process begins when you start touring homes. In reality, one of the most important steps happens before you ever walk through a front door.
Lately, I’ve been spending my Sundays meeting one-on-one with new buyers to talk through the process, answer questions, and help them create a clear plan before we begin the home search.
These conversations are some of my favorite parts of the job.
Why Preparation Matters for Buyers
Buying a home isn’t just about finding the right property — it’s about being prepared when the right one comes along. In today’s market, homes can move quickly, and having a strategy in place makes all the difference.
During these one-on-one consultations, we typically talk about things like:
Understanding the homebuying process step-by-step
Reviewing financing and pre-approval options
Discussing timeline and goals
Exploring different neighborhoods and communities
Creating a strategy for when the right home hits the market
When buyers feel informed and confident, the entire process becomes smoother and far less stressful.
A Personalized Approach
Every buyer’s situation is different. Some people are ready to purchase in the next few weeks, while others are just beginning to explore the idea of homeownership. Meeting individually allows us to focus on your specific goals, questions, and timeline.
Sometimes people just need a place to ask the questions they’ve been wondering about privately. Other times, they’re ready to jump into the market but want to make sure they’re fully prepared.
Either way, starting with a conversation helps build a strong foundation.
Thinking About Buying a Home?
If you’ve been considering buying a home — whether that’s soon or sometime down the road — a quick consultation can help you understand your options and next steps.
There’s no pressure and no commitment. It’s simply an opportunity to get clarity and create a plan that works for you.
Because sometimes the first step in buying a home isn’t scheduling a showing — it’s having a conversation.
